Nicely illustrated with nine images, this article briefly tells the story of baseball’s legendary centerfielder, Willie Mays (b. 1931) and the Summer of 1954 when sportswriters credited him alone for having raised the athletic standards of his team, The New York Giants (the team won the World Series that year):
