This article addresses the subject of sex in advertising, or as they call it on Madison Avenue: advertising.
In the time that has passed since these columns were first read, the lardaceous moguls who lorded over the advertising and publicity mills have paid beacoup bucks to jillions of highbrow eggheads schooled in sociology, psychiatry, neuropsychology, behaviorism, gynecology, urology and sexphobia in order that marketers might gain greater confidence in their ability to bamboozle the average consumer into believing that the banal product at hand is as exciting as s-e-x ever was. However, the ancient adman who penned this article back in the day knew nothing of this - in the article he recalls how pleased they all were in Adland to discover that the creation of these off-color ad campaigns actually made the cash registers sing.
