Woolens and Furs Needed
on the Russian Front

Blaming it all on an "early winter", Hitler ordered the citizens on the home front to give their furs and woolens to the German Army on the Eastern Front:

"The soldier wants shoes and if possible warm underwear, pullovers and woolstuffs; furs and caps, boots, small and large, fur gloves - everything of fur is urgently wanted on the [Russian] front."
