William H. Herndon (1816 – 1891), Lincoln’s law partner, recalled his friend and colleague:

“It is now time to describe the person of Mr. Lincoln: he was about six feet, four inches high, and when he left the city he was fifty-one years old, having good health and no gray hairs…”
