During the earliest years of FDR's New Deal there were a number of columns that appeared comparing the new administration to the dictatorships in Italy and Germany. Both those nations launched enormous public works programs and many of FDR's critic's believed that the NRA was simply a part of the franchise. Mussolini set in motion a vast plan to build whole towns while Hitler constructed a national highway system. FDR commenced similar programs in addition to creating the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) which was run by who? the army.
These pages pertain far more to the philosophy behind the fascist movement and its wide appeal than FDR's New Deal - but it is an interesting read nonetheless.
